Leo

Now, Leo the Cat in Marina says no jumping around for him. He is more into computer stuff and nature. He would rather bask in the sun and explore for insects in the garden. The only jumping he does is when he goes into “mighty hunter mode”, you know what I mean!!

2011 News

Well, here it is 2011.   Time flies and I have to bring things up to date.  An exciting thing happened in Nov. 2010.  I was nominated as Pet Sitter of the Year.  There were 70 nominations and I was in the top 5.  I didn’t win, however, I was very thrilled to have been nominated by my clients here in our area. Thanks a bunch to all that sent in letters to Pet Sitters Int’l.

I wasn’t able to go to our conference in Feb.  It was being held in New Orleans. Since 2010 we have added some wonderful pets to our client list. Our list now includes: baby peacocks, as yet un-named, 2 turtles, several more chickens, ducks, a massive Mastiff and a few horses.

Shasta & Augie

In 2010 and the beginning of 2011 some of our beloved dogs have gone off to Doggy Heaven.  Its always sad to say goodbye to our wonderful companions.  I lost my “best Friend” Shasta in July.  She was a great companion and I’m so glad she just fell asleep in the sunshine one day. I am finding things that she buried in the back yard when I am gardening.  She loved to sneak things (food) out of the kitchen and bury them. Its been almost a year since I lost her but I’m still finding her buried treasure.

Another loss we had was Auggie.  Auggie was such a “human”.  I love taking care of him, especially when we watched t.v.  He was very discriminating and knew exactly what he watched to watch.  He did not like violence or loud talking.  He would walk uo to the t.v. and give them “a piece of his mind”  He was much beloved and very well cared for.  He will be greatly missed.

AS USUAL I AM ENCOURAGING ALL “PARENTS” TO MAKE A PLAN FOR EMERGENCY CARE OF YOUR PET. I FOUND A VERY INFORMATIVE WEBSITE:  WWW.ARKANIMALS.COM
I HOPE YOU WILL CHECK OUT THIS INFORMATIVE SITE.

A Note to Cat Owners

DID YOU KNOW LITTER BOX MAINTENANCE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO ALL CAT OWNERS.  THE WAY A PET SITTER TAKES CARE OF YOUR PETS LITTER BOX CAN BE A “DEAL BREAKER’. WE WILL SCOOP THE BOX ON EVERY VISIT.  IF WE NEED TO DO EXTRA CLEANING BESIDE JUST SCOOPING WE WILL USE A PAPER TOWEL WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF SOAP OR DILUTED VINEGAR TO CLEAN THE EDGES OR SIDES.  VINEGAR NEUTRALIZES URINE AND IS NON TOXIC.  DON’T USE A CLEANSER WITH AMMONIA TO CLEAN UP.  NEVER USE A LYSOL OR PINE SOL TYPE OF CLEANER ON ANY SURFACE A CAT MAY COME INTO.  ALWAYS RINSE WELL AND WIPE DRY ANY SURFACE ON WHICH YOU HAVE USED ANY KIND OF CLEANING AGENT.

HOLIDAY SEASON IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER

Addressing some of the hints for keeping your pets well during the holidays:  do not feed your pets chocolates, nuts, hard candies…keep garbage lids on tight.Watch out for sparkly decorations are especially interesting to kitties and puppies. I ONCE HAD A PARROT REACH THROUGH HIS CAGE A GRAB A MINIATURE CHRISTMAS TREE ORNAMENT. THAT WAS VERY SCARY..I COULD SEE IT IN HIS MOUTH. IT WAS VERY TRICKY GETTING IN OUT OF HIS MOUTH, AS I RECALL IT ENDED UP ON HIS BEAK AND I WAS ABLE TO FLICK IT OFF. IT WAS MADE OF GLASS SO THE DANGER WAS THERE!  LUCKILY HE DIDN’T BITE ME.

Poisonious plants are:
Holly, poinsettia, chrysantimum,amaryllis,periwinkle and mistletoe.

PLEASE NOTE: WE WILL CHARGE AN ADDITIONAL FEE OF $20.00 FOR WORKING ON A HOLIDAY ON THE SPECIFIC DAY THE HOLIDAY FALLS ON.   FOR EXAMPLE: CHRISTMAS EVE, CHRISTMAS DAY,THANKSGIVING DAY.
